d(a(y))
As part of an ongoing series of sound pieces composed for mobile speakers, Lirra Skirra invited friends and colleagues to share a recording from their daily lives. The group used these samples to create a 20 x 50 square foot installation that looped the contributed recordings. These different human experiences, otherwise separated by space and time, merged into a musical patchwork that documents a collectively experienced day.
Resampling and manipulating the contributed field recordings, Lirra Skirra also composed a four-part electro-acoustic piece.
Lirra Skirra premiered d(a(y)) at A Novel Idea on Passyunk in Philadelphia on January 11, 2020.
